Protecting your private information is our priority. This Statement of Privacy applies to MakerSights, Inc. (MakerSights) and governs data collection and usage. MakerSights is a product intelligence and consumer research platform. 

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, unless otherwise noted, all references to MakerSights include our marketing website (https://makersights.com) and our business applications (app.makersights.com, campaign.makersights.com). The person agreeing to this policy may be referred to as “you” or “Data Subject.”

MakerSights obtains affirmative consent to use the MakerSights platform, and any of its associated tools or site. That consent applies to the data practices described in this statement.  

Collection of your Personal Information

MakerSights may collect basic demographic information, such as your zip code, age, gender, household income and other custom demographic questions developed by our brand partners. In any instance, MakerSights will not collect personal data revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade-union membership, genetic data, biometric data processed solely to identify a human being, health-related data, or data concerning a person’s sex life or sexual orientation. 

MakerSights may also collect an anonymized and disguised customer tag, provided by our brand partners, to facilitate the analyses we provide as part of our services. MakerSights may gather additional personal or non-personal information in the future.  Please revisit this document for future updates to our privacy policy.

Information about your computer hardware and software may be automatically collected by MakerSights. This information can include: your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times and referring website addresses. This information is used for the operation of the service, to maintain quality of the service, and to provide general statistics regarding use of the MakerSights platform. 

MakerSights makes reasonable efforts to keep data as complete, accurate, and up to date as possible, and upon discovery of inaccurate data makes reasonable efforts to rectify such data. MakerSights methods including using automated continuous integration tools and peer reviews to verify consistency and integrity of data and systems.

MakerSights encourages you to review the privacy statements of websites you choose to link to from MakerSights so that you can understand how those websites collect, use and share your information. MakerSights is not responsible for the privacy statements or other content on websites outside of the MakerSights platform. 

Use of your Personal Information

MakerSights processes personal information under the lawful bases of consent and or legitimate business interest of MakerSights. MakerSights uses anonymized customer information as part of its standard business practices in the collection and delivery of market research to its clients. We treat customer information and any research responses shared as information that is private. MakerSights does not sell, rent or lease any customer information it collects to third parties, except as set forth below. 

MakerSights may keep track of the websites and pages our users visit within MakerSights, in order to determine what MakerSights services are the most popular. This data is used to deliver customized content within MakerSights. 

MakerSights will disclose your personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on MakerSights or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of MakerSights; and, (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of MakerSights, or the public or in cases of national security. 

MakerSights may choose to buy or sell assets in the future, and may be required to transfer and/or share customer information in connection with the evaluation of and entry into any such transactions.

We may also allow our merchant partners to choose the demographic information of users who will see their advertisements and/or promotional offers and you agree that we may provide any of the information we have collected from you in non-personally identifiable form to a merchant partner, in order for that partner to select the appropriate audience for those advertisements and/or offers. 

Customer information that is transferred to a third party abroad for processing or to support our efforts in providing our services to you is subject, by law, to a comparable level of protection as that provided by MakerSights. A “comparable level of protection” means a level of protection generally equivalent to that provided by Makersights.

Use of Cookies

The MakerSights website may use “cookies” to help you personalize your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.   

One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the Web server that you have returned to a specific page. For example, if you personalize MakerSights pages, or register with MakerSights site or services, a cookie helps MakerSights to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. When you return to the same MakerSights website, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the MakerSights features that you customized. 

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the MakerSights services or websites you visit. 

Your browser may offer you a “Do Not Track” option, which allows you to signal to operators of websites and web applications and services (including behavioral advertising services) that you do not wish such operators to track certain of your online activities over time and across different websites. While we respect the privacy of our users, we are not able to respond to Do Not Track signals set by your browser at this time. As described above we use cookies to enable you to use MakerSights site and services. It helps us remember users’ settings as well as for authentication and analytics. 

Data Types

MakerSight retains your data in three different forms: Anonymized Data, Pseudo Anonymized Data, and Identifiable Data. 

Anonymized Data: Your data in a form which cannot be linked back to you through any means. 

Pseudo Anonymized Data: Your data anonymized using pseudonyms, meaning your unique identifiers (name, birthdate, etc.) have been replaced with artificial identifiers so that the data can no longer be attributed to you without the use of additional information. One Pseudo Anonymized data will not contain, at any one time, the Data Subject’s zip code, date of birth, and gender.

Identifiable Data: The data collected from you in its original form. 

MakerSights Products 

MakerSights has two different online platforms. Each platform either collects or maintains data in different ways.

1. makersights.com and app.makersights.com:

  1. Description: A marketing website and our application portal. 
  2. Data Collected: First Name; Last Name; Email; Phone Number; Company Name, Photo, Team Name. 
  3. Data Type: Identifiable 
  4. Data Storage Location: MakerSight’s Client Relationship Manager (CRM) or internal database
  5. Data Controller: MakerSights
  6. Data Processor: SalesForce and or MakerSights

2. Customer Survey Tool

  1. Description: A business application for third parties to complete product review surveys. 
  2. Data Collected: Age; Zip Code; and other Demographic Information as requested from MakerSight’s brand partners, excluding any personal data revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade-union membership, genetic data, biometric data processed solely to identify a human being, health-related data, or data concerning a person’s sex life or sexual orientation.
  3. Data Type: Anonymized
  4. Data Storage: Data is stored on a secure MakerSights database. 
  5. Data Controller: MakerSights
  6. Data Processor: MakerSights
Data Retention

MakerSight will retain Identifiable Data for internal sales and marketing purposes for an unspecified period of time and will not share the Identifiable Data with third parties.  MakerSight will retain Anonymized data indefinitely. 

Individual’s Access to Identifiable Personal Data

Individuals have the right to access Identifiable Data we hold about them. Upon request, we provide site visitors with access to communications that the visitor has directed to our site (e.g., emails, customer inquiries) and contact information (e.g., name, address, phone number) that we maintain about them. Consumers can request this information by emailing us at: privacy@makersights.com

You may be able to add, update, or delete Identifiable Data as explained above by contacting us at privacy@makersights.com. When you update information, however, we may maintain a copy of the unrevised information in our records. Pursuant to a Data Subject request, in the unlikely event personal data has been transferred to a third party, MakerSights will notify and follow up with the third party of such request according to applicable laws. 

The responses to these requests will be within 30 days of receipt of the request, and without undue delay. MakerSights will notify the Data Subject within the 30-day window if there will be undue delay and give reasoning as to the cause of the delay. 

The response to the request will be in plain, concise, transparent, intelligible, and easily accessible form using clear and plain language.

These access requests are typically provided free of charge, unless MakerSights finds the request is unfounded, repetitive, or excessive in character, in such limited cases MakerSights may charge at a reasonable fee to perform this service. 

In addition to the Data Subject rights above, subjects have the right to request a restriction of processing, the right to object to processing, and in order to pursue those rights, reference the opt-out section below for exercising those rights. MakerSights will provide a response, even if the response is that the request cannot be processed and the reason as to why.

In respect to data portability MakerSights will provide a reasonable export of a Data Subject’s Identifiable Data in structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format insofar as possible. 

As it pertains for Identifiable Data, a Data Subject also have the right to, or the right to access:

  • the purposes of the processing;
  • the categories of personal data concerned;
  • the recipients or categories of recipient to whom the personal data have been or will be disclosed, in particular recipients in third countries or international organizations;
  • where possible, the envisaged period for which the personal data will be stored, or, if not possible, the criteria used to determine that period;
  • the existence of the right to request from the controller rectification or erasure of personal data or restriction of processing of personal data concerning the Data Subject or to object to such processing;
  • the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority;
  • where the personal data are not collected from the Data Subject, any available information as to their source;
  • the existence of automated decision-making, including profiling, referred to in Article 22(1) and (4) and, at least in those cases, meaningful information about the logic involved, as well as the significance and the envisaged consequences of such processing for the Data Subject
Right to object to Identifiable Data Being Sold

You have the right to direct MakerSights to not sell your Identifiable Data. In this case, sell means exchanging the personal information for any consideration. There will be a clear, visible link on the website giving you the option to opt out of your information being sold.

Limiting Use and Disclosure of Identifiable Data

MakerSights Identifiable Data collected for specified explicit and legitimate purposes will only be used for those purposes, and not in a manner incompatible for those purposes. 

Further, the Identifiable Data collected is adequate, relevant, and limited to what is necessary in relation to the specified purposes for which it is processed. 

Related to consent, subjects may withdraw their consent at any time, please contact privacy@makersights.com. Customers may prevent their information from being used for purposes other than those for which it was originally collected by emailing us at: privacy@makersights.com.  

Security of Your Personal Information

MakerSights uses industry leading practices designed to secure your customer information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.  

If customer information is transmitted to other websites, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol. 

Our Commitment to Data Security

We strive to make certain that our servers and connections incorporate the latest encryption and security devices. We have implemented physical, electronic, and managerial procedures designed to safeguard and secure the information we collect. Customer information is transmitted by secure servers (SSL). Unfortunately, no data transmission is guaranteed to be 100% secure and we therefore cannot guarantee the security of information you transmit to or from the Site, Applications, or through the use of our services, and you provide this information at your own risk. ACCORDINGLY, WE DISCLAIM LIABILITY FOR THE THEFT, LOSS, OR INTERCEPTION OF, OR UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS OR DAMAGE TO, YOUR DATA OR COMMUNICATIONS BY USING THE SITE, APPLICATIONS, AND OUR SERVICES. YOU AGREE THAT YOU UNDERSTAND AND ASSUME THESE RISKS.

Children Under Sixteen

MakerSights does not knowingly collect customer information from children under the age of sixteen. If you are under the age of sixteen, you must ask your parent or guardian for permission to use this website. This parental permission includes giving consent to MakerSight’s commercial use of the data collected. 

Special Categories of Data

MakerSights does not knowingly collect any special categories of data as noted by Article 9 of the GDPR for our standard business practices. MakerSights May collect special categories of data regarding Makersights employee data.

Opt-Out & Unsubscribe

We respect your privacy and give you an opportunity to opt-out of receiving any marketing or other communications from MakerSights. Users may opt-out of receiving any or all communications from MakerSights by contacting us via email at privacy@makersights.com.

If you believe your privacy has been breached through use of our website, applications, or other services, please contact us immediately at: support@makersights.com 

Bankruptcy

In the event of a MakerSights bankruptcy, insolvency, reorganization, receivership, or assignment for the benefit of creditors, or the application of laws or equitable principles affecting creditors’ rights generally, we may not be able to control how your customer information is treated, transferred, or used. If such an event occurs, your customer information may be treated like any other MakerSights asset and sold, transferred, or shared with third parties, or used in ways not contemplated or permitted under this Privacy Policy. In this case, you will be notified via email and/or a prominent notice on our site of any change in ownership or uses of your customer information, as well as any choices you may have regarding your customer information.

reCAPTCHA

We use the reCAPTCHA service provided by Google Inc. (Google) to protect your submissions via internet submission forms on this site. This plugin checks if you are a person in order to prevent certain website functions from being (ab)used by spam bots (particularly comments). This plugin query includes the sending of the IP address and possibly other data required by Google for the Google reCAPTCHA service. For this purpose your input will be communicated to and used by Google. However, your IP address is previously truncated by Google within member states of the European Union or in other states which are party to the agreement on the European Economic Area and is, as such, anonymized. Only in exceptional cases is a full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the United States and truncated there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of this service. The IP address provided by reCaptcha from your browser shall not be merged with any other data from Google. This data collection is subject to the data protection regulations of Google (Google Inc.). By using the reCAPTCHA service, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above.

Third-Party Websites

MakerSights may maintain links to other websites. Privacy Policy applies only to MakerSights.com and not to other websites accessible from MakerSights or that you use to access MakerSights, each of which may have privacy policies materially different from this Privacy Policy. If you visit other websites, MakerSights is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. It is your responsibility to review the privacy policies of non-MakerSights websites to confirm that you understand and agree with them.

Changes to this Statement

MakerSights will occasionally update this Statement of Privacy to reflect company and customer feedback. MakerSights encourages you to periodically review this Statement to be informed of how MakerSights is protecting your information. Use of information we collect now is subject to the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is collected.

Supervisory Authorities

MakerSights will comply insofar as possible with supervisory authorities. It is within your rights as a Data Subject to file a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Data Privacy Framework

MakerSights complies with the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, as set forth by the US Department of Commerce and the European Commission regarding the collection, use, and retention of personal information transferred from the European Union to MakerSights in the United States.

MakerSights adheres to the Data Privacy Framework Principles with respect to such information. If there is any conflict between the policies in this Privacy Policy and the Data Privacy Framework Principles, the Data Privacy Framework Principles shall govern. To learn more about the Data Privacy Framework program, and to view our certification, please visit www.dataprivacyframework.gov.

MakerSights may be liable under the Data Privacy Framework Principles in cases of onward transfers to third parties.

In compliance with the Data Privacy Framework Principles, MakerSights commits to resolve complaints about our processing of your personal information. If you have inquiries or complaint, please contact us at privacy@makersights.com or as provided in the “Contact Information” section below.

We have further committed to refer unresolved Data Privacy Framework complaints to an alternative dispute resolution provider. If you have an unresolved privacy or data use concern that we have not addressed satisfactorily, please contact our US-based third-party dispute resolution provider ANA DPF Dispute Resolution at:

If your complaint is not resolved through these channels, under certain conditions abinding arbitration option may be available before a Data Privacy Framework Panel. For additional information, please visit: www.dataprivacyframework.gov.

MakerSights may be required to disclose personal information in response to lawful requests by public authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements.

The Federal Trade Commission has jurisdiction over MakerSight’s compliance with the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
