MakerSIGHTS - Privacy Policy

Protecting your private information is our priority. This statement of privacy (“Privacy Policy”) describes the privacy practices of MakerSights, Inc. (“MakerSights”, “we”, “us” or “our”) and how we handle personal information that we collect through our marketing website (makersights.com), our business applications (app.makersights.com, campaign.makersights.com) and when consumers complete surveys (“Surveys”) (collectively, our “Platform”). We collect personal information from website visitors, representatives of our prospective and existing brand partners ("Customers”), and consumers completing Surveys on our Platform (“Consumers”, “you” or “your”). We use this information where in our legitimate interests to operate the business and deliver research (“Services”) to our Customers.
Collection of your personal information
Personal information you provide to us
- Account information. When you create an account as a Customer, we collect your identity, account and log-in information, such as your first and last name, login and password details and email address.
- Survey information. If you are a Consumer completing a Survey on our Platform, MakerSights collects certain information from you, such as your zip code, age, gender and household income.
- Communications. When you contact us, by email, phone, through our website or otherwise, whether as a website visitor, Customer or Consumer, MakerSights collects personal information such as your contact details and the content of any communications you send to us. This includes communications with questions, feedback, to report a problem or to submit queries, concerns or comments regarding the Platform.
Automatic data collection
We and our service providers may automatically log information about you, your computer or mobile device, your interactions over time with our Platform and our communications with you, such as:
- Device data, such as your computer’s or mobile device’s operating system type and version, manufacturer and model, browser type, screen resolution, RAM and disk size, CPU usage, device type (e.g., phone, tablet), IP address, unique identifiers (including identifiers used for advertising purposes), language settings, mobile device carrier, radio/network information (e.g., WiFi, LTE, 3G).
- Online activity data, such as pages or screens you viewed, how long you spent on a page or screen, the website you visited before browsing to the Platform, navigation paths between pages or screens, information about your activity on a page or screen, access times, duration of access and whether you have opened our marketing emails or clicked links within them.

Use of your Personal Information
MakerSights uses personal information for the following purposes:
- To deliver our Services. If you are a Customer, we use your personal information to deliver our Services. If you are a Consumer, it is in our legitimate interests to use your Survey information to deliver our Services.
- To communicate with Customers. We use personal information when it is in our legitimate interests to respond to Customer requests, provide Customer support and communicate with Customers about our Services.
- To improve our Services and keep our Platform safe. We use personal information when it is in our legitimate interests to improve our Services and keep our Platform safe.
- Research and development. We use personal information when it is in our legitimate interests to carry out research and development for our Platform and/or Services. As part of these activities, we may create or use aggregated, de-identified or otherwise anonymized data from personal information we collect.
- Marketing and advertising. We and our service providers may collect and use personal information relating to Customers when it is in our legitimate interests for the following marketing and advertising purposes:
- Direct marketing. We may send you direct marketing communications as permitted by law, including by email and text message. You may opt out of our marketing communications as described in the “Individual Rights and Choices” section below. Unless consent is required, we send direct marketing when it is in our legitimate interests.
- Interest-based advertising. It is in our legitimate interests to engage advertising partners to display ads on the internet. These companies may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information (including the automatically-collected data described above) about your interactions over time on our Platform, with our communications, and with other online services, and use that information to serve online ads that they think will interest you.
- Compliance and protection. We may use personal information where it is in our legitimate interests to comply with legal obligations and to defend MakerSights against legal claims or disputes, such as to:
- Protect our, your or others’ rights, privacy, safety or property (including by making and defending legal claims).
- Audit our internal processes for compliance with legal and contractual requirements and internal policies.
- Enforce the terms and conditions that govern the Services.
- Prevent, identify, investigate and deter fraudulent, harmful, unauthorized, unethical or illegal activity, including cyberattacks and identity theft.
- Comply with applicable laws, lawful requests and legal process, such as to respond to subpoenas or requests from government authorities.
How we Disclose your Personal Information
MakerSights may disclose personal information to:
- Customers. If you are a Consumer, we may disclose survey information (as described above) to Customers.
- Service providers. We may disclose personal information to companies and individuals that help us to operate the Platform and deliver the Services (such as hosting, information technology, customer support, email and text message delivery and website analytics services).
- Professional advisors. We may disclose personal information to professional advisors, such as lawyers, auditors, bankers, insurers and consultants, where necessary in the course of the professional services that they render to us.
- Authorities and others. We may disclose personal information to law enforcement, government authorities and private parties, as we believe in good faith to be necessary or appropriate for the compliance and protection purposes described above.
- Business transferees. We may disclose your personal information to acquirers and other relevant participants in business transactions (or negotiations for such transactions) involving a corporate divestiture, merger, consolidation, acquisition, reorganization, sale or other disposition of all or any portion of the business or assets of, or equity interests in, MakerSights (including, in connection with a bankruptcy or similar proceedings).
- Advertising partners. We may disclose your personal information to third party advertising companies, including for the interest-based advertising purposes described above.
International Data Transfers
MakerSights is based in and processes personal information in the United States. We may also transfer personal information to our affiliates and service providers in the United States and other jurisdictions. Please note that such jurisdictions may not provide the same protections as the data protection laws in your home country.
When we engage in cross-border data transfers, we will ensure that relevant safeguards are in place to afford adequate protection for personal information and we will comply with applicable data protection laws, in particular by relying on an EU Commission or UK government adequacy decision/regulation for transfers outside of the European Economic Area and United Kingdom, or on contractual protections for the transfer of personal information. Data Privacy Framework
MakerSights complies with the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, as set forth by the US Department of Commerce and the European Commission regarding the collection, use, and retention of personal information transferred from the European Union to MakerSights in the United States.
MakerSights adheres to the Data Privacy Framework Principles with respect to such information. If there is any conflict between the policies in this Privacy Policy and the Data Privacy Framework Principles, the Data Privacy Framework Principles shall govern. MakerSights may be liable under the Data Privacy Framework Principles in cases of onward transfers to third parties.
In compliance with the Data Privacy Framework Principles, MakerSights commits to resolve complaints about our processing of your personal information. If you have inquiries or complaints, please contact us at privacy@makersights.com or as provided in the “Contact Information” section below.
We have further committed to refer unresolved Data Privacy Framework complaints to an alternative dispute resolution provider. If you have an unresolved privacy or data use concern that we have not addressed satisfactorily, please contact our US-based third-party dispute resolution provider ANA DPF Dispute Resolution at:

If your complaint is not resolved through these channels, under certain conditions a binding arbitration option may be available before a Data Privacy Framework Panel. For additional information, please visit: dataprivacyframework.gov.
MakerSights may be required to disclose personal information in response to lawful requests by public authorities, including to meet national security or law enforcement requirements.
The US Federal Trade Commission has jurisdiction over MakerSight’s compliance with the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Data Retention
Where required under applicable laws, we retain personal information only for as long as is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected and processed, in accordance with our retention policies and in accordance with applicable laws and regulatory obligations.
To determine the appropriate retention period for personal information, we consider the amount, nature and sensitivity of the personal information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of personal information, the purposes for which we use personal information and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, and the applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Individual Rights and Choices
Opt out of marketing communications. You may opt out of marketing-related communications by following the opt-out or unsubscribe instructions contained in the marketing communication we sent to you, by contacting us at privacy@makersights.com or as provided in the “Contact Information” section below. You may continue to receive Services-related and other non-marketing communications.
Online tracking opt-out. You can opt out of third-party cookies as described in our Cookie Policy.
Personal information requests. We also offer you choices that affect how we handle the personal information that we control. Depending on your location and the nature of your interactions with our Services, you may request the following in relation to personal information:
- Information about how we have collected and used your personal information.
- Access to a copy of the personal information that we have collected about you. Where applicable, we will provide the information in a portable, machine-readable, readily usable format.
- Correction of personal information that is inaccurate or out of date.
- Deletion of personal information that we no longer need to provide the Services or for other lawful purposes.
- Withdrawal of consent, where we have collected and processed your personal information with your consent. Withdrawing your consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing we conducted prior to your withdrawal, nor will it affect processing of your personal information conducted in reliance on lawful processing grounds other than consent.
- Additional rights, such as the rights to object to and request that we restrict our use of personal information.
To make a request, please email us or write to us as provided in the “Contact Information” section below. We may ask for specific information from you to help us confirm your identity. Depending on where you reside, you may be entitled to empower an “authorized agent” to submit requests on your behalf. We will require authorized agents to confirm their identity and authority, in accordance with applicable laws. You are entitled to exercise the rights described above free from discrimination.
Limits on your privacy rights and choices. In some instances, your choices may be limited, such as where fulfilling your request would impair the rights of others, our ability to provide Services you have requested, or our ability to comply with our legal obligations and enforce our legal rights. If you are not satisfied with how we address your request, you may submit a complaint by contacting us as provided in the “Contact Information” section below.
Right to complain. Depending on where you reside, such as if you reside in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may have the right to complain to a data protection regulator where you live or work, or where you feel a violation has occurred.
Security of Your Personal Information
We use reasonable organizational, technical and administrative measures designed to protect against unauthorized access, misuse, loss, disclosure, alteration and destruction of personal information we maintain. Unfortunately, data transmission over the Internet cannot be guaranteed as completely secure. Therefore, while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of personal information.
Job Applicants
When you apply for one of our open positions, we collect the information that you provide in connection with your job application. This includes but is not limited to business and personal contact information, professional credentials and skills, educational and work history, and other information that may be included in a resume or that you may provide during the interview process. This may also include demographic or diversity information that you voluntarily provide. We may also conduct background checks and receive related information. We also collect personal information from other sources where relevant for your application, such as employment research firms, recruiters, identity verification services, and information that you make publicly available on websites or social media platforms (for example, LinkedIn or Github). Throughout the recruitment process, we may supplement your personal information in connection with the assessment of your application. For example, we may record the views of those considering your application about your suitability for the role for which you have applied and retain interview notes. If you accept an offer from us, your personal information will be incorporated into and used as part of your employee record.
Minors
MakerSights does not knowingly collect personal information from minors, the definition of which varies by jurisdiction as it relates to Surveys, without express consent from a parent or guardian. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us as set out in the “Contact Information” section below if you have any questions or concerns.
Third-Party Websites
MakerSights may maintain links to other websites, operated by third parties. In addition, our content may be integrated into web pages or other online services that are not associated with us. These links and integrations are not an endorsement of, or representation that we are affiliated with, any third party. We do not control websites or online services operated by third parties, and we are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. It is your responsibility to review the privacy policies of non-MakerSights websites.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
MakerSights will occasionally update this Privacy Policy. MakerSights encourages you to periodically review this Privacy Policy to be informed of how MakerSights is protecting your personal information.
